I'm adding rear shocks and have the bed apart on my 1950. The front mounts for the rear shocks and a large reinforcement brace made of angle iron bolt on through two holes diagonally opposed in the frame sides and one hole in the frame top. The bed supports are not secured to the frame on either side of the wheel well. They are free floating on inserted rubber pads. I'll try to post a more complete response later this week.
