I think I would look into a 3126 CAT or 6BT Cummins, which would be expensive but well worth it. You would probably have to do some firewall surgery. A 3208 CAT will fit without firewall surgery, but the turbo version will not. I believe the Navistar will also fit.
The Perkins 6.354 will fit with the NP420, and is a bolt in if you can find a PC/PD 500-600. The T6.354 turbo version will also fit nicely. I think that both engines would be somewhat underpowed for your big bus, but they will fit. Many of the PC/PD trucks used a NP540. Good luck on finding a Dodge/Perkins setup.
