Nothing wrong with putting a closed cab on a winch frame. Few would know the difference. My post was so anyone contemplating it here would not fork out big money and then find out it was not original.

Yes, it is possible a depot might have swapped cabs at some point.

I cannot tell from the photos if it is a civilian or military cab. The civilian cab had holes for lamps in front of the doors just under the cowl seam. It also had a gas filler neck in the rear corner of the cab, on the drivers side if I remember correctly. Those are easily disguised. The biggest difference is the lip that the rear of the hood sits on. On a civilian cab this lip is horizontal. On a military cab it is sloped. The rear lip of the hood will sit flush with the cowl top on a military cab, but on a civilian cab it sticks up quite noticably when viewed from the side or rear. It is difficult to tell at times from the front. It is unlikely a civilian cab would be altered on this lip due to the difficulty of converting it. But if someone did an expert job, it would not bother me in the least.
