The pic is Billy (Bill Wincapaw's son) enjoying "Bussie" at the 2001 Georgia Rally...

Hola' Frank - Driving Bussie out today on errands & start smelling, then seeing billowing white smoke rising from below. Quickly turn into next parking lot & shut her down as I coast into a space. Lots of thick, biting, smoke now. I open the driver's side hood - lots of smoke. I crawl underneath & find a wire totally frying itself - 50 year old cloth insulation is sizzling & glowing enough to light a cigarette - so I do. Then check the 6 volt battery & neg. battery cable to the starter - wire temperature is close to melting the rubber wire cover. A half-inch closed end wrench loosens the post clamp enough for removal & try to figure out what just happened while the wires cool down.

Back on my back, tracing wires. Man, there was about two feet of this heavy gauge wire that just fried against the frame. A smaller gauge wire was long gone - burnt clean off. Doesn't appear to be affect any current operating systems. It supply's power to a defunct panel that operates the non-existent swing-out "STOP" sign, heater, interior lights, etc. Further tracing reveals power to a non-working automatic footwell light, activated by a bum switch as the big door swings open to greet the day's riders.

The offending wire gets trimmed back & electrical tape wraps the ends. Check lights - they come on. Quick reattachment of the battery cable, hood down, tools stowed, key on & starter engaged...will there be anything - YES !!! It fires, starts & we are back on the road again !!! Whew - towing Bussie is a hassle. THANK YOU LORD !!!

Anyway...Look forward to meeting your bride, sounds like you'll miss the JB experience.
