Shortly after moving up to Anchorage back in '91, while working on my WDX one day, an old gentlemen stopped by and started telling me about when he was a kid growing up in Anchorage back in the late 40's early 50's. Said that back then the only way to get around up here was with one of the old WWII Dodge 4X4 trucks. Appearently his dad had a surplused Command Car. Very interesting conversation with the guy.
