Whitworth is a very similar thread form to UNC through most of the common sizes, but the angle at the top of the thread is 55o on UNC and 60o on Whitworth, which means that Whit nuts will go on UNC bolts but not vice versa.

I've got to pay extra for UNC and UNF here.
