We built a couple of homes in a rural development around 2005/2006 in which the owners were required to place a 2500 gallon holding tank in the ground for fire fighting. This tank was integrated into the well pump system so the tank remained full, with the house plumbing never drawing from it. They are in an area adjacent to a lot of wooded area. Well, everyone around here is, myself included.
Seems like it might be a good thing for future building requirements.
