Epoxy Primer, bondo, sand, bondo, sand, bondo, epoxy primer, sanding/high build primer, sand, sanding primer, sand, epoxy primer, top coats.

It is a multi step process. The epoxy primer under the bondo stops the metal from rusting under the bondo and popping the bondo off. Get all of the bondo work done then seal. This keeps any moisture from being absorbed by the bondo. Spray with high build/sanding primer to fill all the minor imperfections. Repeat as many times as needed. Spray with epoxy primer to seal and give a consistent color. All the work underneath the top color paint determines how good the final color paint coat will look. I spent over 100 hours after the final epoxy primer spraying sanding primer and sanding on the green part of my carryall. The final color laid so flat that I did not have it rubbed out at all for many years.

Read the data sheets on your paint. It will give you the paints that you can use over each paint layer and the times before you need to cover it with another coat or lightly sand prior to painting again.

I use Rage Extreem body filler as it spreads and works quite well. Mix in small amounts. Work in the cooler part of the day.
