Bondo Question after Primer Is On?

Do I need to let the epoxy primer cure any set amount of time before I fill in some low spots? Working with Bondo the stuff sets up way to fast. Will it hurt to cut the mix down some and not so hot?? Does the stuff called Iceing set up a little slower so you can spread it better?
After all the spot patching stuff is done and sanded do I primer it again and look for stuff I missed, fix that and hit it again before the final top coats? Boy there is going to be some fine sanding work to do!
