After returning from Ireland, I drove my truck, which had been sitting 2 weeks. After about 8 miles I came to a stop sign and could smell really hot brakes. I pulled over and my drivers side front brakes were really hot. I picked up a new caliper, pads and rotors. I drove a different truck the rest of the week until I could make the repair. Saturday morning I pulled the caliper and pads. The rotor was fine, so I just did the caliper and pads. I had replaced the pads and rotors within the last 6 months so there was still plenty of pad left. The backing plates were already rusting off so I went ahead and replaced them. I had a bunch of errands to run Saturday, so I only did the drivers side for now. On my run into town, I got the same smell, and could feel the brakes dragging. I stopped, and now the front passenger side on was hot. OK, I will get a new caliper for that side too. I keep going, make another stop, and now the passenger side has cooled off and now the drivers side front was hot again???? Then, on the way home, everything seemed fine. What the heck is going on?
The caliper I replaced was definitely frozen,
I am baffled.
Thanks in advance,
Tim
