Decided to forget the front idea -- too hard to mount on the Toyota, but will put a receiver hitch on the rear, since I'd like to be able to tow a trailer anyway, and will make a winch mount for the receiver. That'll be enough to get me unstuck and skid some small logs, which is all I want, and I can leave the winch off when I don't need it. The thing's light enough to pick up easily. The "12,000 lb" Warn probably weighs half as much as the "8,000 lb" MU2, which in turn weighs half as much as the "10,000 lb" "light duty" Garwood winch on my M35.
