This truck was my fathers and when he passed in 1998 it became mine although i HAVE DRIVEN it my entire life! From 1976 till the early 1980s it was primarily our DEER HUNTING truck and only was used once per year. After that it was my daily driver til the late 1980s.. Since then it has sat for times and been driven at times.. Since 1998 it has been used solely for camping and mountain bike trips and I just keep it running to keep it healthy I LOVE this truck but for 5 years I have lived on the CALIFORNIA coast and have to take it once a year to my auto body guy to sand and repaint SPOTS because of the salt air.. I no longer want to keep doing this and seeing the truck go through this makes me sad. This is why I am selling the truck.
This truck has never once ever let US down and has never ever needed anything except normal maintenance . When the truck had 103,000 ,miles my mechanic came across a new 318 motor and my motor had been barely smoking for years SO I decided to replace the motor since it was a good deal.. The truck does not burn a drop of oil!!! I also installed new headers and pipes and re-build the HOLLY 4 BARREL at the same time. EDELBROCK intake I COULD TELL YOU STORIES OF THIS TRUCK as they are legendary in my family!! MUD, SNOW, ETC ETC... SHORT BED POSI TRACK 4 SPEED is the 4x4 of dreams!!! It sounds and runs perfect!!!! EVERYWHERE I drive it I get in conversations with people that admire it. I painted it FLAT black a couple of years ago because i knew the SALT AIR would tear through the old faded paint job and it helped but again its just not going to live out here for ever.... I put new MUDDERS on it about a year ago and they have thousands of miles left.. You can live anywhere and drive this truck to your destination worry free.. The only thing this truck needs is another good owner that wants a DODGE POWER WAGON..I also installed a current brand new TOW PACKAGE!
i ALSO bought the BRAMA camper used when I painted the truck. There is a 1970s carpet kit in the back of the bed that is old but still functions better than any TENT.. We used to sleep back there in zero degree weather while HUNTING........
whats wrong with it?? NORMAL WEAR of 40 years.. interior seat has tears.. but no foam is missing and the seat is covered.. The second gas tank never had a gas gauge. The number one gas tank measures full when the gauge says half full. REAR RIGHT back up light does not work.. Front windshield leaks when its really raining bad...( I HAVE TRIED TO FIX THE LEAK BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO SEAL IT CORRECTLY) The fuse box is no longer the fuse box.. If you lift the plastic glove box out with your two fingers the new FUSE BOX is under the glove box.. I am really trying to pick my brain to what is wrong with the truck... IT IS HARD BECAUSE ANYTHING THAT IT HAS EVER NEEDED I REPLACED... It saw the MUD a lot in its early life but it hasnt seen more than a dirt road in over 20 years!!! The gauges dont work but new gauges were installed right above the floor stick shift.. THIS TRUCK WILL CRAWL UP A WALL!!!! REGISTERED IN NEW MEXICO but truck in CALIFORNIA.. will not pass smog as is.. its running the way it supposed to run!
