Stihl Makes some good saws but you can't base an opinion on the box store Stihls they now sell at common stores. Look at the CC's of the motor and don't be fooled by the large plastics surrounding them. They do have a pro grade and homeowner grade so you have to watch that now. Sad, but the market pretty much demands it anymore.
Trimmers/climbers go for the 200 or now the 201. Very compact and engine is the same CC's as a large homeowners version. Those 201's are over $600.00. Home owners won't go for that but they are dead reliable and workhorses.
The ethanol fuel and owner neglect and abuse are the biggest killers of all equipment.
