I owned a toyota motor home for years. It was a 1984 R22 4 speed. It went anywhere I pointed it. Over the bear tooth highway into Yellowstone and to Alaska and back. The problem with the rear axel was due to the axle casting flexing. The US builders made the motor home so close to the max load capacity that when you added the people and supplies they were way overloaded. Not really Toyota's fault but they provided a new full floating axle for every chassis. It was complete, wheels and all, at no cost including shipping and labor. Mine had been done by the first owner, and yes he did break an axle.
I think it was 93 or 94 they stopped selling to the industry. We just kept making them longer and heavier. Until Toyota pulled the plug on them.Jim
