Is it realistic to haul 2500 lbs in a 1985 Hilux pickup? I was astounded to see it listed as a "1-ton", since it's smaller than any American "1/2-ton" of the same vintage. Are we talking American tons versus Japanese tons? American trucks have loads of safety margin. Maybe Japanese trucks are rated right at the point where they're guaranteed to break? Or maybe it really is a stout little beast and it can handle it easily. In any case, it's all I have that's fit (and legal) for a highway trip at this point. Wish I had the D500 ready but it's still full of junk.
