I added a few M715s to the military collection and had an engine quit after just pulling into the shop.
No spark and no reading thru the coil primary.Pulled the ignition coil out of the distributor and it is a beautiful chrome plated thing with no markings.
My research concluded it is a chicom import that won't last. The M151, M37 and M715 all use the same coils.
My question is how to modify a 12v coil to work? I haven't performed an autopsy on the chicom coil to verify that it has an internal resistor yet.The ohm reading on a good US made 24v coil is 8.6 and a few of the 12v and 6v coils I checked were 1.6.
There don't appear to be any NOS coils avalable now. Thanks Dave
