Is the rest of the setup from the car or from a power wagon? If the bell housing and tranny are wrong you might have to change the flywheel as well.
Also I wouldn't spend much money on a 218 that turned over, but had no compression. If you can I'd try and spend a little extra on an engine that runs (preferably a late 50s 230 for more power) as it might be an easier rebuild.
