I don't think it has anything to do with your ability to repair it, but in what you need from it and how much you will be relying on it.

A lot of parts for these can't be pulled off a shelf at the local parts store any more if at all. Which means when it does need maintenance and repair your mechanic or you will need to be able to track down the right stuff and order it, causing delays.

Depending on how old the mechanic is they may need to read up on some of this stuff themselves. A young mechanic probably wouldn't know the proper way to adjust some of the things on a Power Wagon, or even that they need adjusted.

Honestly you really need to drive one first before you throw yourself into one. It may sound great in your head, but before you spend the kind of money you're thinking about you probably need to see what you're really getting yourself into. The small cab, strange ergonomics, and reduced visibility could quickly get old in a vehicle you expect to use every day.

For the kind of money you are looking at a vacation to one of the Power Wagon rallies would be time and money well spent first.
