Hood shim?

Working on installing and aligning the hood. The extra cab height means I need to shim up the radiator too, but I also had a small tapered shim under one of the hood hinge brackets, I'm pretty sure it was the cab end.

Is this shim a stock thing or something that may have been added over the years? The hood height adjacent to the other panels seems fine, so I'm not sure what it was originally for exactly
