I just do it one at a time. Bump the starter switch, watch the valves rock. Ex closes, intake opens, give about a half a turn more. The base circle IS a circle.
The most complicated way to set it on a particular piton TDC, and do half of them. But I get lost at "In and ex of #3, in of 4, ex of 7, in of 3 1/2....
