It's my understanding that 50wt gear oil is what was recommended in the day, and back then they did not have the additives that damage the brass and other soft metals in these transmissions.
So I ditched the 90wt gear oil as it was hard to shift when cold and with the modern additives being hard on the soft metal in the older transmissions the Lucas Synthetic was the best closest match to the older oils.
