Different sizes on Distributors?

I have 2 different distributors I can use? One is off the Plymouth Engine and one off the 53 PW T137 Engine. Both are the same on the shaft but the T137 has a smaller cap then the Plymouth one. Now I have a new cap that won't fit both being to large! both auto lite and Chrysler brand. One has a indent in the dist and the other does not???
