OT Paypal question

I got an notice that ebay and paypal are separating, ok fine. But I've received 3 emails from "Paypal" saying I need to verify my address or my account will be canceled. I have not replied since this smells like a scam. Am I correct in thinking it is a scam? Anyone else had this come up?
