Stock 76 would be full-time 203 transfer case and no locking hubs. Hub conversion kits and transfer case conversion kits (to make it part time) have gotten very hard to find. I have a 77 and plan to convert to a later model part-time (probably 208) transfer case and swap in a Dana 60F with locking hubs.

If you are not able to do a conversion right now, the bearings are not that bad to change. The job requires a special puller or some ingenuity. I went the ingenuity route. The replacement bearings I found were packaged such that both bearings and the spacer were included in one part number.
