That's been my experience, too. Using the stock radiator from the 360 in the Wagoneer. The fan rarely comes on. I used a sensor that came with the electric fan. It goes between the fins in the radiator. I put it right under where the water dumps in the top thinking that would be the hottest part of the radiator.
