There's a browser setting, usually buried deeply in some non-obvious place, that makes it remember or forget its "browsing history" when you close the browser. Sometimes these settings seem to change themselves for no good reason, but most likely I accidentally click on some wrong thing, or a software upgrade resets things. On Firefox, it's under Tools| Options | Privacy | History. Somehow yours probably accidentally got set wrong.
