I commented on this subject at the beginning of this forum. Dan H mentioned that the DMV is planning a special run of "legacy plates" and they need your order. They had 50s 60's and 70's. They only had enough orders to run the 60's plates. They are black with yellow letters. One option is to find a pair of 1947 original plates that are DMV cleared. These need to be commercial and cost around $700-$1000. (My 1956 YOM plates cost $150) Another option is to order the Legacy plates that will not be the same as the YOM plates in color and size but will still look like a older style. Right now my truck is titled but not registered and has no plates assigned. I will have to register and insure the truck to get new current style plates then I can order the legacy plates. Can't get the legacy plates without the truck being actively registered. That will cost me around $250 plus insurance. I think I will wait until the truck is closer to being on the road then go the legacy plate route (by themselves $50) and keep looking for YOM plates in the meantime.
