i talked with bob about this when i visited him in illnois
his op impressed me, however as you mentioned the rotor is not sandwiched between the wheel and hub rather it is on the back of the hub, but as he and others said if 4 holes were good enuff they would have made the rotor with 4 holes--however the 4 bolts that hold the hub on may be another weak point on the gm truck as with only two bolts to hold the caliper in place
as bob pointed out to me tho the issue may not be sheer rather the rotor flexing between fastners
