Cutting the tabs off of that pin hitch. Leave the square patch on the rear of the cross member. If you really were into it you could drill and sawsall a square hole and weld in a receiver hitch tube. The square tab would reinforce the receiver tube. Just a thought . Bet you that solution would look darn clean.
