We've had a lot of yellow labs. All of them developed fatty tumors as they aged, very common to this breed.

Anyway, our current dogs both have them (9 and 10 years old). Vet says the same, just fatty tumors, watch them. He usually (once a year) takes a hypodermic needle and withdraws some tissue from them to look at under a scope just to be sure.

If they bother you from an aesthetic point of view, have them removed. Of course, this puts the dog under anesthesia which is worse and probably not a good idea.
