You need a clear plastic jug with a lid. Take a piece of 1" PVC and cut a section out. Drill a 1" hole through both sides of the jug.
Put the pipe through the holes in the jug, with the cut section facing up.
Put a piece of meat in the pipe where the cut is.
Fill the jug about 3/4" deep with apple juice.
The idea is to attract the wasp with the meat. They crawl into the pipe to get the meat and then take off through the cut section, thereby getting stuck in the jar. They fly around for a while, get tired and fall into the juice and drown. The juice also acts as bait. When the jar is so full, take it to the garden and dump it out. (make sure they're all dead!)
I've been using one of these for a couple of years. Works great. Even gets flies.
I tried it with a milk jug. Wouldn't work as well.
