You know, Id rather own a Trailer on 40 acres, then own a nice house on 5 acres. Id rather have a HUGE pole barn shop filled with tools and shop equipment then have a nice huge $250,000+up house. My reasoning: I spend maybe 6-8 hours in the house a day (sleeping and internet work mostly). I am also single and dont need a big place. I dont like those big expensive houses, too hard to keep clean and to expensive to heat in the winter. Id rather have land and lots of it,. I can have more fun with 40 acres and a trailer than I can with 5 acres and a huge house. I try to live within my means, as I dont drive the newest vehicles, I dont buy new clothes every day...I try to get things done as cheaply as possible and yet still have fun. When it comes to having fun, I am into the low investment high fun factor return...That is one reason why I like to run demolition derbies. That is really low budget and high fun return. Just like id rather live very megerly and have my own place than buy a new car and have to live in an appartment with somebody and split the bills. I guess what I am trying to get it is, in the area I live in, a good lot, if not most people drive these brand new vehicles, live in this nice huge house, and call people like me white trash because I have no problem with settling for a small crakerbox house or a trailer and I drive older vehicles etc. but atleast I can afford to live and have fun both.
Oh speaking of Trailers. In most townships around here, you cannot park a Mobil home trailer when you buy land. You either build a house or you can park a motor home or camper on it till you get your place built.
