Somtimes this was done for no reason. Was thought to be one of those neat little improvement tricks. Downside, no oil gets slung to the top bushing and it wears faster.
I just squirted oil in with the grease on mines. It cant get any messier in there. When I do rebuild the frontend, I will not put grease back in.
