I made the same decision not long ago. I ended up with the 2500 because the 3500 would not fit up my driveway. The 2500 tows a heavy load very well but I don't tow all the time. If you live out in the sticks, you need to make sure the 3500 will fit on the road to the house. The same applies to a gooseneck. Those things need a wider swath than a CL4 hitch which will carry almost the same load.
