I met a fella a little over a year ago who claims he once saw a PTO powered chain saw. Has anyone else ever heard of anything like this, or was he seriously hallucinating? I know there was a company that made a PTO driven post hole digger that was designed to be operated by one person. You operated it just like the currently available one-man power posthole diggers you find at tool and equipment rental places. Only this had no engine of its own, and instead, connected with a telescopic PTO shaft to the tailshaft on a tractor, Power-Wagon, etc. It of course had a clutch that had to be held engaged in order to operate. I could see the same basic idea in a chain saw with maybe a flexible PTO drive similiar to those on the post hole diggers used on the old powerline trucks. I can imagine such a thing being a really cool Rally demonstration..naturally it would inherently be OSHA approved!
