Sounds like you've found a runner!

I'm not sure about the WW2 trucks, but the civilian trucks have the serial numbers in 2 places: drivers side door jam (between the hinges) and on the drivers side front frame rail (just behind the front spring perch). Some later trucks have the frame number somewhere on the rear of the frame. You may have to look HARD to find the frame number, some of them are stamped lightly.

My truck is registered under the engine block number. That should be on the drivers side of the block, towards the front, below the head.

If you can confirm the registration and you have the cash, go for it and enjoy your truck!

Also, the link below has pictures of the WW2 Dodges, maybe you can find something that looks like your truck. I'm no military truck expert but M41 doesn't ring a bell.

As an aside, the folks on this board are chocked full of good info. Some of us can get a little 'testy' when folks say they are going to run a PW as a mud runner, but like I said in my first post, it's your truck. In my opinion, the only time someone SHOULD get 'testy' is if you trashed a perfect truck or something very rare.

At the top of the forum is a link to the WW2 Dodge forum. They will have more info on the serial number locat1ons and what your truck is exactly.

Good luck!

P.S. PW fever may take hold once you start driving around. This is perfectly normal. There is NO cure!
