I agree with every thing others have said.

When i did a 1 wire alternator on my jeep with a 12v negative ground (typical modern setup) I actually designed my whole electrical system for my jeep from scratch because i wanted it my way, for example i wanted relays on my head lights which means i have the only cj5 with bright (stock) headlights. : )

I went through many many many wiring diagrams and even though i have an electronics background i found myself confused for a while.
Till it finally dawned on me that you really can do it many different ways (physically) and it actually creates the same circuit electrically.

So depending on who the engineer was at various auto makers i found that some liked to put the Hot or positive from the alternator directly to the batt. some liked to put it to the starter, but as i broke down the diagrams and simplified them i realized they were using the positive stud on the starter as a distribution point for lots of things, really not any different than connecting lots of stuff to the positive of the batt.

So i ran my alternator wire to the starter and then piggy backed the wire from the batt. on that same stud.

Then i ran a separate wire from the Positive batt. through the ignition switch via relaty, to supply power to a custom distribution for all the rest of the systems.

been beating on that jeep for 15+ years not with no issues.
