The split ring on these tires is way larger then the lip on a modern conventional rim, nor is that surface used as a sealing surface for air. So the potential of having a too wide tire leak or even potentially come off the lip is pretty much 0.

The issues with the wider stance will be the sidewall flex, and overall shape of the tire, e.g. the tread staying flat given the exaggerated /_\ shape the tire would need to take.

No, it is not a recommended application for our trucks, but technically neither is Rays Brake kit. You'd never get the manufacturer of either the rotor or caliper to agree that our use of those parts in that application is OK without lots of $$$$ to do so, but we have lots of people running them just fine. Not condoning it, but plenty of people will vouch for it's effectiveness.
