Old growth is illegal to cut down so Ed is partially right. We harvest already fallen old growth trees. The trees were cut down to make shingles pre 1950 and they harvested the first 60-80 feet to where the knots start ie branches. The rest they left on the ground and we come in and get those sections. You can only get them off private land as federal and state is outlawed.
