When Mt. St. Helens blew in the '80s, all the ash drifted East over Eastern Wa., Idaho, and into Montana. Lots of engines were destroyed from sucking the ash in, and who knows how many peoples lungs suffered.
We had 1/2" to 3/4" of ash here in Sandpoint.
