He's given up trying to get me to buy one, I think. He has quite a variety of Hud-son stuff in his yard. I have the pieces of two old circle-saw mills I intend to put together one of these days. But my impression of the Hud-son stuff is that it's a step up from the lowest end band-saw mills and definitely a step up from an "Alaskan" chain saw mill (the chain saw mill has the big advantage, tough, that you can take it to the log in order to reduce the log to manageable cants). They have all different sizes and accessories. The next step up from these is a mill where the saw stays stationary and there's a carriage to move the log.

I met one guy who used a small band-saw mill like this (not sure of the brand) pretty hard and he told me you'd better start the day with half a dozen sharp blades because you'll go through them in the course of a day's work.
