After .003 to .004 you are pushing things a tad. Under .003 you are good to go for a new set of rings and a light hone job. The weird part is the block has 40 over sized pistons. You should be getting a bore 40 thousand over stock plus the wear. You may want to zero your mike in on a known object.
That said I have run engines with large piston to wall clearance and gotten away with it. One had great power, revved like stink, but I never trusted it.
