Dave, several ways to get around the hole problem. You can weld it shut and machine the face (raising comp as well), you can tap the hole and put a tapered thread brass plug in there - use a thread sealant - I've seen one like that that lasted more than 20 years, and finally one combination of head/gasket/ block works, but for how long I don't know. Remember the 230's were the end result of the 23" engine being bored oversize, chrysler stopped at 230 because of reliability issues.
