Not just more compression, but also better flow from combustion over near the valves, to the top of the piston.
Original thickness was ~1.938", you can problaly take of some more to up comp.
I think I would look into heavier valve springs too. Higher revs that way.
Plus a bigger carb, if not two OEs.
Let us know if you ever get it dyno'd.
