I bash Subarus too - into snow banks and down muddy roads. 300k on my '90 2.2 5spd wagon and it's still going. Makes a great parts runner and kayak hauler. Not bad to work on.
Speaking of subaru bashing, a tweaker in Seattle smashed a side window on the kid's 1 month old subaru. So she is now learning about the joys of new car ownership and dealership service. Which is why I will never own a new rig.
