I would sure keep it. I've never seen an automotive alternator with external copper-oxide or selenium rectifiers. The whole contraption looks like it's been in the ocean, so I'd be surprised if it would work without some signfificant restoration, but if the windings are good and the regulator isn't a mass of rust inside, I would restore it and run it just because I like old junk. It would be easy enough to change the rectifier pack around for negative ground, and the regulator, being mechanical inside, won't care. If the rectifiers are shot, which is likely, I would replace them with some silicon units, which are cheap these days.
