You need to add the weight of the trailer into the weight. A load rating of 8k does not mean you can load 8K of gear on it. If an 8K rated trailer weighs 2K that means you can load 6K on it.

My ffPW weighs in at 4,900 lbs with out a winch. With winch your close to 5400 lbs. if you put any tools or gear on, your near the limit which is not where you want to be.

I just got a call from a friend a few minutes ago he is in Death Valley waiting for new axles to be delivered. His fifth wheel weighs in at 7800 lbs. He lost a wheel due to an axle/wheel failure. He is replacing the 4K axles with 5K axles for more axle strength. Running at or near capacity is not a good idea.
