I buy this material from B-Quiet. it is less expensive than Dynamat, and I can't tell any functional difference between the two products. I use two layers, because that triples the effectiveness of how it breaks down sound waves. I use it on firewalls, inside doors, wheel wells, everything. The downside is it is rather permanent. It will be major mess if the steel rusts, and I'd rather see steel in most of my old trucks. On this one, I decided it needed to be quiet above all else, so I made every effort to ensure that the floors were solid , tight and protected from moisture to the extreme.
A technique I've been using on all my vehicles even without the silver stuff is to use truck bed mat material on the floor instead of, or at least underneath the jute carpet backing. The bed mat has little rubber bumps that maintain an airspace on top of the floor. This allows water to escape instead of a sopping wet carpet backing holding moisture on the floor.
