Unless you have a reason to go to Calif., other than to say you were there, there are lots of great places right in Washington state. A trip around the Hood Canal, and around the Olympic Peninsula, Ferry ride to Whidbey Island or the San Juan Islands, would be good this time of the year. Lots of little wineries or breweries if you are into that sort of thing.
