in house mack and the lighter stuff is from other suppliers and mack opted to go the double spline

probably cheaper to forge on lg runs but not for sm runs

i still think splines on both ends may be less likely to break cuz of the extra play the other way one gives a little but the other one don t so the weakest link breaks but still just guessing

yes it would be nice if we could ask the original engineers but they are probably dead and gone

when i first cmae down here all they wanted were macks and they only wanted the 44000 rears and up--i actually bought a 65 b61 dump truck and drove it down here once and sold it

costa rican friend from here would go up to tennessee with drivers and buy 20 or more and piggy back 4 or 5 together and drive em down buff em out and sell em
that has all changed now but you still see a few around
